Tooth Extractions – DFW, TX

Looking for toothache relief? Bear Creek Family Dentistry can help families in the DFW area with comprehensive tooth extractions and wisdom tooth removal.

At Bear Creek Family Dentistry, we're proud to have several in-house specialists that can assist with tooth repair, removal, and replacement. Tooth extractions are generally considered a last resort — natural teeth are usually pretty resilient, and it's best to treat, preserve, or restore them when possible. However, certain complications can make extraction the safest and most effective option. If extraction is necessary, our team will thoroughly examine your affected tooth and apply a local anesthetic to ensure your comfort. We're also able to discuss tooth replacement options at the same visit, so you can plan for a complete smile from day one.

Tooth extractions are generally considered a last resort; natural teeth are preserved when possible.

Simple extraction involves gently loosening a fully grown tooth until it eases out of place.

Surgical extraction is performed when a tooth is fully or partially trapped below the gum line; a small amount of oral tissue is removed to reach the tooth.

Trapped teeth are often extracted in separate pieces to preserve as much bone as possible.

Local anesthetic is applied to ensure comfort before the extraction.

After extraction, patients review aftercare instructions, receive advice for managing soreness, and discuss tooth replacement options.

Aftercare includes taking over-the-counter or prescribed pain relievers, getting plenty of rest, avoiding hard/crunchy/sticky/spicy foods, staying hydrated without using a straw, carefully brushing and flossing, and staying away from tobacco products.

24 hours after extraction, patients can rinse mouth with a saltwater mixture.

Dental insurance policies often cover about 50% of the cost of tooth extractions.

Practice accepts CHIP and Medicaid.

Financing available through CareCredit and Sunbit.

Cost factors include severity of condition, location of the tooth, and type of restoration selected.

Types of tooth extractions offered include simple tooth extractions, surgical removals, and wisdom tooth extractions.
